About the Role
Macro and Economic Research Integration: Source, analyze and interpret macroeconomic data to identify trends in consumer behavior and spending.
Stock Screening: Develop and recommend sector-specific stock baskets that align with the macroeconomic landscape, with a focus on strategy rather than individual stock analysis.
Collaboration and
Advisory: Work closely with other strategists and the partner to develop and present insights to clients, including Chief Investment Officers, portfolio managers, and analysts.
Data Analysis and
Insights: Utilize economic data and advanced Excel skills to draw robust, empirically supported conclusions.
Written Research: Produce high-quality research reports on consumer strategy with clear and actionable recommendations for clients (approx every 2 weeks).
Client Interaction: Speak with clients as needed. Mostly via video call, with in person when appropriate.
Requirements
Core competencies:
Data - sourcing & analysing. Strong in Excel
Written work - produce value add reports that the worlds most sophisticated investors will value
Client work - interact with buy side clients
Experience
Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in macroeconomic research or sector-level investment strategy, ideally with exposure to consumer-related sectors. Most likely US Economist or US Equity Strategist.
Very strong written skills to create best in class written research.
Experience working on the sell side or buy side both appropriate. Would also consider experience from Fed (/similar) or relevant consultancies or think tanks.
Strong academic background in Economics, Finance, or a related discipline.
Proficiency in working with data, particularly using Excel for analysis and modeling.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex research to a senior audience.
